Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome lives in our throat chakra. It is why your voice shakes when you question yourself. It’s why you bite your tongue out of fear that you’re not good enough. We become inspired in the crown chakra, and as that energy moves to be expressed through the throat, it meets this conflicting energy of limiting beliefs from the solar plexus and root chakra. These limiting beliefs question who we are to have that inspiration, to say what we want to say, and to share our creativity, gifts, emotions, etc. When they meld together, you experience imposter syndrome.

Journaling Prompts For You

There are a few reasons why you may be experiencing these limiting beliefs. Grab your journal and reflect here:

  1. What role does society play in your limiting beliefs? How has the political climate impacted how safe you feel to be expressive and creative?

  2. What experiences of rejection have you experienced? What beliefs formed from those experiences?

  3. Make a list of 5 things you deeply want to be or experience in this lifetime. Next to those beliefs, write down what fears or limiting beliefs make you feel like you can’t, aren’t worthy, etc., of that list being your reality.

  4. Write a declaration that you are ready and willing to release these beliefs and learn through love instead. In this declaration, include your list of 5 things in the form of affirmations.

Here’s an example of what this might look like:

  1. Desire: I want to feel strong and healthy in my body. I want to be able to travel the world and feel good doing it in my body. I want to be in nature and go for hikes without my body suffering during or after it.

  2. Limiting belief: I will never have the endurance or ability to do those things because I have chronic pain and fatigue. My body always ends up failing me.

  3. Affirmation: I am learning to love my body where it’s at and have hope in where it can be. Every day, my body becomes more and more capable of carrying out those mountaintop dreams.

P.S. Helping people do the inner work between the limiting belief and the embodiment of the affirmation is my jam. If you’re needing help here, reach out to me!

How vocal work + energy work helped me through a moment of imposter syndrome.

I was prepping for an intuitive guidance session when imposter syndrome came creeping in.

“What do you mean you said you’d be open to including mediumship in an intuitive guidance session?!” “Who do you think you are, saying yes to something like that?!” “Girl, we better find a referral!”

As these thoughts came up, I could feel them in my throat. I had to continuously clear my throat and could even feel the shakiness in my vocal chords when I thought about sharing messages during the session. I took a deep breath and thought, "What if I used the practices from Sound of Your Soul right now?" My hands immediately warmed up at the thought. I did some self-Reiki to ease the energy present and open my intuition.

After the energy work, I thought about what my voice would sound like if I knew I was the clearest, most loving channel. I imagined what my voice would feel like if I knew that every word that came out of my mouth was a message from the Universe. Then I went into the vocal work part of Sound of Your Soul. You have to experience that part for yourself to truly understand it.

My mind and body clicked together. It was time for the session to begin.

The secret intuition amplifier

With imposter syndrome silenced, I held what will forever be one of my favorite intuitive sessions. The stories aren’t mine to share, but what I will share is how I felt during the session.

While the messages I shared mattered, what meant the most was how I shared them. I didn’t think about how the messages should be or sound; I let spirit guide that. It was very “I’m a clear and loving channel.” I could very clearly feel the thoughts that were mine and what was coming from spirit. It dawned on me that this is because I have a clearer understanding of what my voice sounds and feels like due to doing Sound of Your Soul regularly.

Vocal work paired with energy work is strengthening my intuition.

At the end of the session, the client thanked me for being so honest in the voice of a loved one. This person most likely has no idea how much work I’ve been doing through the voice, so it was incredibly validating that that was one of the ending remarks.

Imposter syndrome could have sent that session in a completely different direction, but it didn’t because of the healing I’ve experienced leading Sound of Your Soul.

Don’t let imposter syndrome derail you from using your voice and your gifts in the way that would bring you joy.

I’d love to see you at the next Sound of Your Soul event. You can register for the upcoming sessions here.
